FAQs

Does Pomponne makeup-skincare contain PFAS?

No, Pomponne makeup-skincare products have never contained PFAS, even before the law of 02/20/2025 came into effect.

Is Pomponne makeup tested on animals?

Of course not, Pomponnette. In addition to being an ethical choice, European regulations prohibit it! Some non-European countries, such as China, may require animal testing for certain distribution channels, but we will refuse to go there.

Is Pomponne makeup as effective as conventional synthetic makeup?

Pomponne lip care lipstick was developed in co-creation with make-up artists and conventional lipstick users. They were all completely blown away by the performance of our make-up, which they consider to be as effective as their synthetic make-up.

Is your lipstick as effective as a lip balm?

At Pomponne, we want our makeup to be 2-in-1, both skincare and makeup. To save time in your beauty routine, but most importantly, to consume less but better. We wanted our natural lipstick to have the nourishing and anti-chapping effectiveness of the best lip balms. That's why we added patented and clinically tested active ingredients that can be found in some high-quality lip care products.

Why isn't Pomponne makeup organic certified?

We didn't want to be organic certified because the only way to have a beautiful vibrant red organic lipstick is to use carmine pigment. And this pigment is obtained by crushing cochineals (female insects). So, we prefer to leave the insects alone and opt for a "healthy synthetic" and vegan red pigment. Moreover, to be honest, these certifications have a cost and as a young brand, we preferred to invest this money in research and development, clinical tests, quality active ingredients,... We have some ingredients that are organic but not all. However, our formulas are natural, with between 95 and 100% of ingredients of natural origin.

Is Pomponne makeup vegan?

Yes Pomponnette! We chose to formulate without ingredients of animal origin, so they are for example formulated without beeswax and without carmine pigment from cochineal.

Do you use carmine pigment from cochineal insects?

No way, we're leaving the little cochineals alone and opting for a HEALTHYnthetic red pigment to get a color worthy of a Cannes Film Festival red carpet ;)

Does Pomponne makeup contain essential oils?

No, no Pomponne product contains essential oils. We want everyone to be able to "Pomponner" (pamper themselves) :) There are none in our vintage fragrance either, which is 100% natural.

Is the fragrance used in Pomponne lipstick natural?

Our perfume is 100% natural and was custom-developed by a perfumer! We wanted a vintage fragrance that would take us back to our childhood, so we enlisted an expert to recreate the scent of our mothers' or grandmothers' lipsticks. A nostalgic smile is 100% guaranteed!

Where are Pomponne products made?

Made in France is important to us. Our natural products are developed and formulated with a smile in Brittany, and the manufacturing and packaging steps take place in Eure, 173 km from our warehouse (a 1h50 drive), which helps reduce our carbon footprint :)

Regarding eco-responsibility, what materials are your packagings made from?

All our packaging is 100% recyclable :)
The lipstick packaging is 100% PP. We chose single-material packaging and PP to facilitate recycling at sorting centers.
The mascara packaging, on the other hand, is made of plant-based plastic.
Our packaging also comes from Italy, not China, to limit our carbon footprint. We were offered eco-responsible packaging at very attractive prices, but it came from Asia... which makes no sense!

How long can I keep my Pomponne products?

If you haven't opened your tube, you can keep it for 3 years. Once opened, the PAO (=period after opening) is 12 months. But we hope you'll have finished them before then because you'll love them so much ;)

Does Pomponne lipstick contain titanium dioxide?

We do not use titanium dioxide in its nanoparticle form, which is suspected of being an endocrine disruptor. You will only find it in certain shades of our lipstick in NON-NANO form because it is currently the natural white pigment that provides the most coverage. For the shades Orange Sixties, Grenat, Poppy Red, Plum, Couture Red, Fuchsia & Cherry Red, we have even managed to formulate WITHOUT titanium dioxide.

Can you send me some samples?

We also want to pamper the planet, so we avoid trial doses. If you want to see the color rendering, you can go to the "Lookbook" section and visualize the lipstick worn on a phototype close to yours to see what it looks like with your hair color, skin color, or even your eye color. We hope this will help you visualize it :)

Are Pomponne lipsticks transfer-proof?

At Pomponne, lipstick is a potion that makes kisses (a little!) visible. We preferred this to adding silicone to make it 100% transfer-proof, an ingredient that's not very eco-friendly. So you might see the mark of your smile on your glass (or the cheek you're kissing!). To limit transfer, we recommend waiting 15 minutes after applying lipstick before drinking. This allows our lipstick time to dry. P.S.: maybe an effective natural anti-transfer solution will exist one day!

Is Pomponne makeup clean (i.e. safe, healthy)?

Our Pomponne makeup does not contain any controversial ingredients. If we have any doubt about an active ingredient, we remove it. Why formulate with it if we can do without? We formulate with a strict "never list" of ingredients that excludes all allergens and all ingredients controversial for health and for the environment. You will never find silicones, parabens, phenoxyethanol, nanoparticles, aluminum, etc., in our formulas. If you want to see the details of our never list, it's not here...
